Galton Valley Primary enjoys panto trip as part of £8k Sigma Capital Group plc donation

Almost 400 pupils from Galton Valley Primary School in Smethwick attended a Peter Pan pantomime performance in Birmingham following a donation from private rental housing specialist, Sigma Capital Group plc.

As one of the leading providers of new build homes for the private rental sector (PRS) and investment advisor to The PRS REIT plc, donated £8,000 to the school in 2018, which it has used for the pantomime trip and to buy new books for the school, which each child will receive on their birthday.

Sigma donated the money as part of its drive to give back to the communities that its homes are built in and its Simple Life Galton Lock site, which is located near to the school, was no exception.

Due to a decrease in government funding, the school had to make a difficult decision to cancel the January 2019 pantomime trip to the Birmingham Hippodrome, which had been a tradition since 2013.

Sarah O’Boyle, Head Teacher at Galton Valley Primary School said: “Sigma came to our rescue! When Sigma arranged a meeting with us with regards to their Corporate Responsibility Funding, we were overjoyed to receive the funds so that the children could once again see the pantomime.

“This has been a fantastic opportunity for all pupils to widen their experience, which will hopefully help them in the future both academically and emotionally too.”

Victoria Hurcomb from Sigma said : “Projects like this are what Sigma’s monetary donations are all about; building strong and happy communities and we are delighted that the pupils got to enjoy a trip to the panto on us!”

Galton Lock is a shared site, with Countryside open market sale homes situated alongside Sigma’s Simple Life built to rent homes. There are 64 two, three and four-bedroom rental homes in total at Galton Lock.
